    2015, Marc Jarvis, se sachant atteint d'une maladie incurable et n'ayant plus qu'un an à vivre, choisit de se faire cryogéniser dans l'espoir d'être guéri et ressuscité par la science du futur. 2084, guéri et réparé par un groupe de scientifiques chargé de veiller sur lui, Marc va découvrir que l'immortalité n'est pas aussi enviable qu'il l'imaginait.

    Prévu bientôt sur les écrans français et rebaptisé pour l'occasion "Realive", cette production espagnole et française sortie en 2016 , tournée par Mateo Gil (à qui l'on doit le western sous-estimé "Blackthorn" ) est un émouvant film de science-fiction, teinté de romantisme et de réflexion philosophique autour de la quête éternelle d'immortalité et de la persistance des souvenirs au delà de la mort.

    Par souci d'économiser les moyens dans un budget sans doute restreint, le réalisateur s'attache davantage à l'interprétation et aux sentiments qu'à l'action, et la recette fonctionne car, malgré ça, jamais l'ennui ne pointe le bout de son nez. Tout ça grâce à l'interprétation de Tom Hughes, Oona Chaplin et Charlotte Le Bon, qui portent littéralement le film sur leurs épaules et se révèlent excellents.

    Un film qui se rapproche finalement beaucoup de "Bienvenue à Gattaca" dans lequels dominent émotion et réflexion. Touchant et profondément humain. Une belle réussite du cinéma moderne espagnol décidément talentueux.

    Cette édition espagnole propose le film en version originale (anglais) et doublée en espagnol, avec sous-titres espagnol uniquement. Bonus divers et variés accompagnent cette galette numérique à l'image et au son irréprochables.

    I was looking forward to this film only to find it had the option to have Spanish without Subtitle option:
    But when you switch to English Language you cannot disable the blasted Subtitles.

    BEWARE when Buying, Look elsewhere until this is rectified
    I new this was returned as it was resealed ( But how many times )

    I stumbled upon this movie when searching the Web for "sci-fi movies 2016". No buzz or hype around this that I hearing, so I didn't know what it would be and I went into it with few expectations (other than the so-so score on IMDB of 5.9 at the time of this writing).

    + Very good production value with the futuristic tech and design

    + This is truly a science fiction story that drives the deep philosophical questions we all should be asking as science & technology progresses.

    + No actors I've ever heard of, even though they all have credits behind their names. Everyone did a fine acting job.

    + Strong, modern-day love story sub-plot that actually has direct impact on the main story line. I think a lot of 20's and 30's will really relate to the love story.

    > Another utopian future where sex is free w/out consequences and people don't connect with other people on the level previous generations did.
    This is good and bad, but mostly good. Bad, because I'm so over sci-fi stories painting that specific picture of the future. Good, because it shows us as viewers that such a utopia isn't what we think it will/could be and has blaring gaps in helping people live a fulfilled life.

    > I need to watch it again to see what I think about the ending. I cannot say more without spoiling it for anyone.

    + Afterward I had to immediately come here and write something down because it has left me thinking a lot.

    > This is not a movie for kids, for those that care. Rated R for language, sex, nudity, adult themes.

    OVERALL:
    If you like science fiction that makes you think, check it out.
    If you like a drama that makes you feel and think, check it out.
    If you are looking for action scene sequences, this movie is NOT for you.
    Think Gattaca, in the sense that it was a people drama with a sci-fi skin. That is what this is very much likened to.

    The product description did not make it clear that this film was only available in Spanish. Other films give option to select languages but this DVD doesn't. Have to rely on English subtitles to understand. Disappointed with this purchase as had really been looking forward to watching this film.

    Magnífica película de ciencia ficción/drama. Un buen guión de Mateo Gil. Una historia que hace plantearse muchas cosas de la vida actual. Me sobrecogió y me pareció original, triste, bella..... Un buen reparto. Me pareció un precio más que increible para una obra tan bonita. Gracias!!!
